A super herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Astragalus is packed with plant nutrients like antioxidants, saponins, and polysaccharides. Yet it has a mildly sweet flavor that is reminiscent of a light veggie broth with subtle spicy highlights.
Used as a tonic herb in China for over 2000 years, astragalus is thought to strengthen the “qi”, the vital force in the body that is at the foundation of Chinese Traditional Medicine. Its Chinese name is Haung Qi indicating its importance as a warming herb for the qi. It is given to people in need of revitalizing their heart, kidneys, liver, nerves or immunity.
With centuries of growing astragalus root, Chinese family farmers use organic farming methods to cultivate it. The root is traditionally found in long flat, sliced pieces but it is easier to make a tea infusion using Worldwide Botanicals’ cut & sifted roots because more surface area is exposed for better extraction into the liquid. We recommend simmering the root per our instructions to release its full wellness properties.
Suggested Uses:
Drink a strong tea for revitalizing the body.
Combine with licorice root and ginger to make a delicious tea
Add to soups, bone broths, or hot cereals U
se as a base for smoothies
